In the field of hydrological monitoring, river discharge data serve as the core basis for water resource allocation, flood warning, and ecological conservation. The collaborative monitoring solution developed by Fujian Aotai Automation Equipment Co., Ltd. leverages the efficient integration of RDV radar velocity sensors, 80G radar water level gauges, and hydrological RTUs to provide reliable technical support for accurate measurement of river discharge. This solution is widely applicable to various natural river channels and hydrological monitoring scenarios across different watersheds.
In the solution, the RDV radar flow sensor leverages the Doppler effect of radar to non-contactly detect surface water flow velocity. By operating without any physical contact with the water body, it effectively avoids interference from aquatic vegetation and impurities, enabling precise capture of dynamic changes in water flow. The accompanying 80 GHz radar water level gauge is specifically designed for high-precision measurement of river water levels. Its focused energy beam provides strong resistance against interference from rain, fog, and waves, allowing it to acquire real-time, highly accurate water level data.
Based on data collected from two types of devices and combined with pre-set parameters for riverbed dimensions, the system automatically calculates the cross-sectional area of the river channel. By multiplying the flow velocity by the cross-sectional area, the system determines the discharge rate at the river’s cross section. The hydrological RTU is responsible for aggregating all monitoring data, processing it, and then uploading it to the hydrological monitoring platform, enabling remote, real-time visualization of discharge data. This comprehensive solution features a high degree of automation and low operational and maintenance costs, providing hydrological agencies with continuous and accurate discharge data and helping to enhance water resource management and emergency flood control capabilities.
