Dual-Mode Intelligent Switching, Long-Lasting Maintenance-Free Operation | Fujian Aotai Composite Water-Level Telemetry Terminal Empowers Smart Monitoring of Urban Drainage Manholes!
2026-04-30
Drainage manholes are critical nodes in municipal utility networks for flood prevention and drainage as well as for refined operations and maintenance. Real-time, high-precision water-level monitoring enables effective prediction of surface ponding, network overflows, and urban flooding risks, facilitates rapid identification of pipeline blockage hazards, and provides essential decision-making support for flood-control dispatch and network maintenance—making it a vital foundation for smart water management.
At the end of April 2026, Fujian Aotai’s integrated radar–static pressure composite water-level telemetry terminal was officially deployed for manhole monitoring, specifically addressing industry pain points such as easy clogging and sedimentation in traditional equipment, measurement blind spots, limited battery life, and complex installation.

The device employs a dual-monitoring architecture featuring 120 GHz high-frequency radar and pressure-balanced static pressure sensing, with intelligent switching enabled by an electrical conductivity sensor. Under normal low-water-level conditions, non-contact radar measurement is activated to prevent corrosion from sewage and the adhesion of debris; when the water level rises into the radar’s blind zone, the system automatically switches to static-pressure mode, enabling seamless full-range monitoring. The complementary synergy of these two technologies significantly reduces sensor immersion-related wear and tear, minimizes measurement bias, and ensures more stable and reliable measurement data.

The terminal is equipped with a high-capacity 76 Ah battery and features an ultra-low-power design, enabling more than four years of continuous operation under high-frequency data-collection conditions—truly achieving long-term, maintenance-free performance. Its all-in-one, compact design makes it well-suited for installation in the confined spaces of manholes, while wall-mounting ensures simple and convenient deployment, making it ideal for large-scale, rapid rollout in municipal projects.
The equipment employs a fully potting-and-sealing encapsulation process, achieving an IP68 high-protection rating. It is capable of withstanding harsh downhole conditions such as high humidity, standing water, and corrosive environments, thereby meeting the requirements for long-term unattended operation.

The field deployment of this equipment further enhances the three-dimensional perception system for underground utility networks. Leveraging its advantages—dual-mode precise monitoring, stable data transmission, and high adaptability—it enables dynamic surveillance of water accumulation in manholes and early warning of sediment buildup, thereby providing robust data support for urban flood prevention and disaster mitigation, drainage dispatching, and comprehensive pipeline network management. This, in turn, helps advance municipal drainage management toward smarter, more refined operations.
