    1、 Principle

     

    The working principle of an ultrasonic Level gauge is that the transducer (probe) emits ultrasonic pulses that are reflected back from the surface of the measured medium. Some of the reflected echoes are received by the same transducer and converted into electrical signals. Ultrasonic pulses propagate at the speed of sound waves, and the time interval required from emission to reception of ultrasonic pulses is proportional to the distance from the transducer to the surface of the measured medium. The relationship between the distance value S, the sound velocity C, and the transmission time T can be expressed by the formula: S=CxT/2.

     

    Due to the certain width of the emitted ultrasonic pulses, the reflected waves in a small area close to the transducer overlap with the emitted waves, making it difficult to identify and measure their distance values. This area is called the measurement blind spot. The size of the blind spot is related to the model of the ultrasonic level gauge.

    2、 Characteristics

     

    Due to the use of advanced microprocessors and unique echo processing technology, ultrasonic level gauges can be applied to various complex working conditions. The transducer is equipped with a built-in temperature sensor, which can achieve temperature compensation of the measured value. The transmission power of the ultrasonic transducer can be adjusted in a timely manner according to the echo analysis algorithm, thereby achieving accurate measurement.

     

    1. Supply voltage

     

    4... 20mA/HART (two-wire system) power supply and current signal share one two core cable. Please refer to the technical data for the specific range of power supply voltage. For intrinsic safety type, a safety barrier must be added between the power supply and the instrument.

     

    4... 20mA/HART (four wire system) power supply and current signal each use a two core cable. Please refer to the technical data for the specific range of power supply voltage.

     

    The standard instrument current output can be output in a grounded form. Explosion proof instruments require floating output for current output. The instrument and grounding terminal should ensure good grounding. Usually, the grounding can be connected to the grounding point of the tank. If it is a plastic tank, it should be connected to the adjacent ground.

    2. General Introduction

     

    The power supply cable can use ordinary two core cables, with an outer diameter of 5... 9mm to ensure the sealing of the cable entrance. If there is electromagnetic interference, it is recommended to use shielded cables.

     

    4... 20mA/HART (two-wire system) power cables can use ordinary two core cables.

     

    4... 20mA/HART (four wire system) power supply cables should use shielded cables.

     

    Shielding and wiring of cables

     

    Both ends of the shielded cable should be grounded. Inside the sensor, the shield must be directly connected to the internal grounding terminal. The external grounding terminal on the shell must be connected to the ground.

     

    If there is a grounding current, the shielding end of the shielded cable on the side away from the instrument must be grounded through a ceramic capacitor (e.g. 1 μ F 1500V) to suppress low-frequency grounding current while still preventing high-frequency interference signals.  

     

    This product must be powered by a safety barrier during use. AO5041-1 safety barrier is an associated equipment of this product, and its explosion-proof form is of intrinsic safety type. Explosion proof mark: [Exia] IIB, power supply voltage 24V DC ± 5%, short-circuit current 100mA, working current 4-20mA.

     

    All cables must be shielded cables with a length of 500 meters. Distributed capacitance ≤ 0.1 μ F/Km, distributed inductance ≤ 1mH/Km. The ultrasonic level gauge must be grounded during installation. Do not use other associated equipment that has not undergone explosion-proof testing.
