Aotai Automation has completed a smart drainage project in a city in southern China, with smart manhole covers strengthening the underground safety defense!

In December 2025, Fujian Aotai Automation Equipment Co., Ltd. successfully completed the full-process supply and installation of smart manhole covers for an intelligent drainage project in a southern city. By deploying intelligent equipment, the company is empowering the upgrade of municipal drainage networks and injecting technological strength into local flood prevention, drainage, and public safety efforts.
The smart manhole cover delivered this time boasts outstanding core performance parameters. It features an IP68 fully sealed protective design, enabling it to withstand prolonged immersion in water up to 1 meter deep, making it well-suited for the rainy and humid environments of southern regions. The cover is equipped with high-precision tilt and displacement sensors, offering a tilt monitoring range of 0–90° with a resolution of 0.1° and a displacement detection accuracy of ≤±3mm, allowing it to promptly detect abnormalities such as loosening or shifting of the manhole cover. The device is powered by a low-power chip and a large-capacity lithium battery, providing a battery life of up to 5 years. It supports dual-mode 4G/NB-IoT communication, with an upload latency for abnormal data of less than 30 seconds, ensuring real-time transmission of critical information.
The product is widely used in scenarios such as urban main roads, low-lying areas prone to flooding, and aging urban pipe networks. It not only enables precise monitoring of manhole cover status to prevent fall risks but also integrates with underground water-level data to provide early warnings of urban flooding, offering reliable support for the operation, maintenance, and dispatch of pipe networks. The successful implementation of this project will help local authorities enhance the precision of drainage management, strengthen their emergency response capabilities during flood seasons, and ensure the safety of citizens’ travel.
