Braving the heavy rains of the flood season! Fuzhou has deployed 80G radar-based water-level monitoring equipment to strengthen its flood‑prevention defenses.

Since the start of the flood season, many parts of southern China have experienced sustained heavy rainfall, leading to rising river levels and escalating risks of flash floods, thereby placing mounting pressure on flood‑control monitoring and early‑warning systems. To address shortcomings in grassroots flood‑monitoring capabilities and strengthen a comprehensive water‑sensing network across the region, Fuzhou officially completed the deployment of intelligent water‑level monitoring stations along flash‑flood channels on May 20, putting into service, in bulk, 80G radar‑based water‑level monitoring devices developed in-house by Fujian Aotai Automation, thus bolstering the city’s flood‑season safety defenses.
This device employs 80 GHz high‑frequency radar non‑contact measurement technology, which is unaffected by water flow, sediment, or floating debris, delivering high measurement accuracy and strong environmental adaptability. The entire unit features an integrated stainless‑steel construction that is corrosion‑resistant, weather‑proof, and exceptionally robust, making it well suited to challenging outdoor conditions. With its compact size and easy installation, a single unit can be deployed in just over ten minutes, enabling rapid expansion of regional monitoring networks. Equipped with a high‑capacity 76 Ah battery, it offers stable operation for more than four years under high‑frequency data acquisition and transmission modes, and the battery is quickly replaceable, significantly reducing on‑site maintenance burdens. Additionally, leveraging 4G wireless communication, the device continuously collects water level data around the clock and uploads it in real time to the monitoring platform, enabling unattended, intelligent monitoring.
The large-scale deployment of this equipment has effectively addressed monitoring gaps in flash‑flood‑prone gullies, strengthened Fuzhou’s citywide hydrological monitoring network, and provided precise, reliable data to support rainfall analysis, flood‑control dispatching, and flash‑flood early warning, thereby comprehensively enhancing the region’s capacity for disaster prevention, mitigation, and emergency response during the flood season.
